The time and current operating characteristics of fuses are chosen to provide adequate protection without needless interruption.

A fuse is an electrical safety device is used to provide overcurrent protection.  A fuse’s essential component is a metal wire or strip. It will melt when too much current flows through it. The primary function of a fuse is to interrupt the current.  Once a fuse has operated, it becomes an open circuit. Therefore, it must be replaced or rewired, depending on the type.
